Guardian Home
What is a Guardian Home?

A Guardian Home is a partnership between a breeder and a carefully selected and loving family. The family receives a high-quality puppy—typically at no cost or a reduced fee—while the breeder retains ownership and breeding rights for a set period of time.
When the dog is old enough and passes all required health testing, she will return to us briefly for breeding and again to have and raise her puppies. After completing a set number of litters, she will be spayed and live out the rest of her life with her Guardian Family.
How Long Does the Program Last?
Most dogs in our program have 3–4 litters and are typically retired around 4–5 years of age, at which point full ownership is transferred to the Guardian Family.

Why Choose a Guardian Home?

For Breeders: It allows us to expand our program while ensuring each of our dogs lives in a loving, permanent home. Rather than rehoming retired dogs later in life, we believe they deserve to grow up and grow old with their bonded families.
For Families: You receive a top-quality dog—often the best of the litter, chosen for excellent health and temperament—without the typical cost of purchasing one. It’s a wonderful way to be part of the Redwood Aussiedoodles community and enjoy an amazing companion with added support from us along the way.
What are the Requirements to be Guardian Home?

Each breeder has their own guidelines, but here’s what we require from our Guardian Homes:
-
Must live within a 2-hour drive of Redwood Aussiedoodles
-
Must not relocate outside this area while in the program
-
No other unaltered dogs in the home
-
Must keep dog up-to-date on flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives
-
Must maintain a 6–8 week grooming schedule
-
Must maintain excellent communication throughout the dog’s breeding career
-
Must allow reasonable access to the dog for testing, breeding, and visits
